Where I'm focused

Four years ago, our schools were stuck. Today East Baton Rouge is one of the nation's fastest-improving districts — but "improving" isn't "finished." Here's the progress we've made, and the work I'm focused on next.

+14 pts K-3 reading on grade level

K-3 reading jumped from 48% to 62% on grade level in a single year — real progress, and we won't stop until every child reads on time.

72.4 Highest performance score in EBR history

Our district performance score hit an all-time high, alongside the highest graduation rate we've ever recorded — proof the turnaround is working.

~1.5 Grade levels still to make up

Even with record gains, our students remain about 1.5 grade levels behind 2019. I'm running to close that gap — stronger schools for every child.

We've gained ground — now we close the gap.

East Baton Rouge students are improving faster than most districts in the country, but too many are still behind. My next-term focus is clear: early literacy, real support for teachers, safer schools, and easier access to quality options for every family.

Stronger schools. Real progress. More to do.

I ran to hold our schools accountable and put students first — and it's working. East Baton Rouge is now among the nation's fastest-improving districts. I'm not satisfied yet, and I'm asking for your help to finish the job.
